One of our first assignments in Game design was, of course,
to design a game. As a class, we worked
together to create a game that would help us learn each other’s names. After play testing and editing, we came up
with these game rules.
Parameters: Have the entire group of people play a game to learn
each other’s names while playing in two competitive teams.
1 Split players evenly into two teams.
2 Have the players line up into two lines, one
representing each team.
3 To begin, have the players at the end of the
line face each other and have them do rock, paper, scissors to determine who
goes first.
4 The winner will have a chance to call/guess all
of the names of the opposing team members. After they guess, the person will
switch to the other team’s line (so they may guess and learn the names of their
own team members when their turn comes again).
If a player correctly identifies the names of the enemy team players and
then their own team players, they get a point for their team. No individual may score a point twice.
5 The next people facing each other at the end of
the line go, alternating between teams for who gets to guess.
6 The first team to achieve the number of points
equal to the number of people on their team wins. For example, if there are seven
people on each team, the first team to reach seven points wins.
